Don’t Act Like You Are Humble

(Matthew 6:16-18)---“Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you; they have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly”.

The Pharisees would go around with a gloomy look on their faces, trying to act religious and humble. You don’t ever act humble. If you act humble, you are very proud. Sometimes people will ask me, Are you a preacher? How do they know I’m a preacher before I’ve said anything or before I’ve said anything “spiritual”? I don’t want them to know that I am a preacher by the way I look. Now, I’m not ashamed that I’m a preacher, but I think a preacher ought to dress and act so that nobody will suspect he’s a preacher when they don’t know It. We ought to be natural. JUST BE YOURSELF. We’re not posturing, posing, or somehow going through life trying to look holy or trying to act holy. We are what we are by the grace of God. Remember Actions speak louder than words and be thankful that others can see Christ in you instead of you.
