Never Giving Up
There are times when we all want to give up. There are times when we all want to quit. However, we achieve absolutely nothing when we give up. As much as you might want to take the easy way out and take the smooth road when difficulties come, no one is given a promise of ease in life at birth. Everyone experiences difficulty in life. However, it is never the difficulty we face, it is how we handle the difficulty that means the most to God. If you give up in times of difficulty, then the difficulty has won out over you. In the history of Christianity, if the early Christians had given up in the face of their difficulties, there would be no Christian faith today. Until the very end, you must never quit because victory in the Christian life comes only when we never quit fighting against temptation, when we never quit loving others, when we never quit being totally humble, and when never quit praying as we kneel at the foot of His Cross.

Thinking You Are Not Good Enough
Many of us feel we do not measure up. Many of us feel we are not quite good enough. Realistically, no one can be the best at everything. No one can "measure up" in every part of life. All of us have deficiencies and faults. However, should we carry a burden on our back because we feel we are not quite good enough? No, we should not carry such a burden. The reason we should not carry this kind of dark burden is that in Christ's eyes we ARE good enough. In Christ's eyes, we were good enough He was willing to die for us. In Christ's eyes, His destination for us in the world and in heaven is such a glorious destination, the idea of your not being quite good enough is ridiculous to Him. As a child of God, you are more than worthy. As a child of God, you can exceed all expectations of what the world expects a person to be. To think about your trying to measure up to a defective yardstick the world creates is total foolishness. In Christ, you measure up. In Christ, you are called one of His own.

To See Love
In the hatred and venom of the world, Christ lets you see love.
Instead of the self-interest and selfishness of the world, you will see how Christ's love totally changes all things.
Christ's love can be seen.
Christ will show you how His love makes all things new.
You will see Christ's love, the same love working even in the heart of the person running away and rebelling.
In your heart and life, be an instrument of Christ's love.
Be a witness of Christ to the person running away and rebelling.
Be an instrument of Christ's love as you minister to the person full of sadness.
In Christ's will and grace, He will help you help others.
Christ will help you raise and care for little children so the children can live in peace, comfort, and joy because others love them.
Look and you will see the love between couples with wrinkled hands and gray hair who have shared decades together.
Be an affirmation for those couples who have spent decades together.
Be a help and comfort to those who are alone but whose eyes light up when they talk of days gone by.
Let the Lord touch your heart as you show love by giving hours of worry and dedication to others.
Look and you will see Christ, the full embodiment of love, dying on the cross to give you eternal life.

Peace and Security
1 Corinthians 15:52-55--- In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
Knowing our ultimate destination in life gives us the ultimate security. When we know where we will be at the end of our life's journey, then all other things, events, and persons in our life take on a new perspective. Knowing for sure we will be in Heaven when we die, gives us the security to deal with all of our temporary days to day problems. In truth, none of us will be on this earth forever. All of us are on earth for just a little while. There are peace and security in knowing no matter what happens to us today, we will inherit an imperishable body in heaven. We will live in peace and joy if we have accepted Christ as our Savior and Lord.

Keeping Your Eyes Upon Christ
When you think your life is over and you think you are going to taste the defeat of death…
The Lord will show you a vision of His victory over death so you may reign in victory with Christ forever and ever.
When you are downhearted and low in spirit…
The Lord will show you a vision of His great ascension so you may be lifted up into the clouds.
When you think you have given all there is to give and you think you have nothing left within you…
The Lord will show you a vision of His sacrifice for you on the cross.
When all things seem to go against you and you have lost hope…
The Lord will show you a vision of the stone being rolled back and His emergence from the tomb.
When you are lost and alone…
The Lord will show you a vision of His outstretched arms waiting to welcome you home so you can see each other face to face.

The Wealth Of Christ's Love
In your heart, Christ's love will
fill you.
His love will shine out in your life.
His love will shine out in your life.
Whenever you want things your own
way, Christ will touch you with His love so you are not selfish.
Whenever you feel sad from grief or
loss, Christ will pick up your spirit with His love.
Whenever you are in pain, Christ will
touch you with His love so you will feel His comfort.
Whenever you see sadness or pain in
others, Christ will touch your heart so you can reach out to others in His
name.

Keeping Hope Alive
We kill our
doubt and keep our hope alive by understanding…with God, all things are
possible, all the time, for every person. We understand all things become
certain beyond our last moment on earth.
The point of
having hope in life is to always have a better life regardless of how long your
life might be. The greatest grandest hope on earth is realized in the fullness
of life eternal.
To build the
kingdom of God we must sacrifice our physical bodies, our mind, our heart, our
wants, and our needs as we sacrifice our all for Christ.
Like the
wind, the will of God is a power and a force you can use. To use the power of
God, build a windmill in your mind and heart.
The reason
so many people feel helpless in the face of adversity is because they run out
of hope.

Victory Over Death
1
Corinthians 15:55---O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
The sadness
of losing someone in death may keep us from seeing the realities of Christ.
Death is the final battle of our life on earth. No person on earth can escape
the toll of the terrorist called death. However, there is a great
"However" because death is an illusion. Instead of the illusion of
defeat called death, we have the reality of victory in Christ. In Christ, we
will never die if we accept Christ as Lord and Savior. The forces of nature
acting upon our physical body will take physical life from us. However, in
Christ, we have a new eternal life. What Satan will destroy in our body, Christ
will lift up in our spirit. When there appears to be certain defeat at the
hands of Satan, there is a certain victory in the nail-scarred hands of Christ.
As we approach the last steps of our physical journey on earth, we have an
eternal hope, for our journey of life has no real end. When our physical
earthly journey comes to an end, there is instead, a new beginning…the
beginning of eternal life in Heaven. In Christ, the ultimate defeat of our
earthly physical life called death becomes our ultimate spiritual victory when
we inherit eternal life in heaven.

God's Partnership
2 Corinthians 2:12-13---Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
No one is helpless. No one is hopeless. However, there are
times in our life when we may feel helpless and hopeless. At the other extreme
in our life there are those times when we are so full of power and enthusiasm
we are able to run over any obstacle with ease. In either case, at either
extreme, we need to let God get a grip on our life. We mistakenly try to live
our life on our own. When we try to live our life on our own we lose. In our
complex world of dependence upon one another, we do not have the capability or
the wherewithal to manage every situation on our own. When we are faced with
what seems to be a situation of total hopelessness, we need to let God grasp
us. We need to let God grasp the situation in which we are enmeshed. By letting
God come into a circumstance, we gain new power and a new perspective. Letting
God grasp a situation does not mean we give up control. We are commissioned to
do God's will, but we are not commissioned to sit back as we try to convince
God to do His will for us while we do little or nothing.

God With a Man
Matthew 1:23---Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
A man suffered greatly. For this man, the idea of God being with us sometimes seemed to be a
joke because of His suffering. The man seldom spoke about His plight. No one
seemed to care about his suffering because everyone seemed to be too busy with
their own lives and their own problems. The man believed in God and struggled
to make contact with Him, but the suffering always seemed to get in the way.
The man prayed every day but he seldom prayed for himself. In his prayer life,
the man always puts others first. The man died a quiet and even blissful death.
He was carried to Heaven on the wings of angels and stood with Christ before
His new heavenly home. The Lord was about to escort him to his new home when
the Lord asked Him to look back at the earth. In an instant, the man saw how
his life and suffering had touched the lives and hearts of others. Then he saw
how those lives and hearts had touched still others. On and on the touching
went. The man finally saw, even when his suffering seemed to beat down the
presence of God, that God was not dead. For when God seemed to be dead within
him, others were being touched by God because of his suffering. Standing in
Heaven, the man saw God was never really dead but was really with the man, and
through this man's suffering, God came to be with others.

The Size of God
Psalms 139:5-10--- Thou hast beset me behind and before,
and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is
high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither
shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if
I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the
morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand
lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
The size of God in your life depends upon how honest and truthful you can
be with Him and with yourself. When you know there are things within you
needing attention yet you ignore these things, then God is diminished within
you because you have not permitted Him to work fully and fruitfully within you.
The size of God within you is also determined by how much you trust Him. To
trust God is a supremely mature act. Most of us want a written statement or a
written guarantee things will be alright. We are willing to trust God only if
God proves to us we have no need to trust Him. We are willing to trust God if
we do not need to run any risk. To trust our unseen God who speaks to us only
in quiet whispers requires us to put our whole person or whole being into His
hands. This is hard to do. Yet we know we can trust Him for we instinctively
know He loves us and He would not fail us.

Our Greatest Need
Psalm 143:6---
I stretch forth my hands unto thee; my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty
land.
Not long ago I visited the
dean of a great American university. We looked out the window of his office and
watched hundreds of students walking to their classes. I asked the dean, “What
is the greatest problem at this university?” He thought a moment and answered,
“Emptiness.” So many people today are bored, lonely, searching for something.
You can see it in their faces.
One girl home from college
told her wealthy father, “Father, I want something but I don’t know what it
is.” That’s true of many people; we want something to meet the deepest problems
of our lives, but we haven’t found it. David said, “I have found it. I shall
not want.” The Apostle Paul expressed it, “I have learned in whatever state I
am, to be content.”
You don’t have to give up
on life, to throw up your hands and cry, “It’s no use.” You can have God’s peace, God’s joy, God’s
happiness, God’s security; and yours can become the most thrilling life in the
world.

Pure in Heart
Isaiah
33:15,16---He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that
despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of
bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes
from seeing evil; He shall dwell on high: his place of defense shall be the
munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.
Being pure in conduct also
includes honesty and integrity in dealing with our fellowmen. A Christian
should be known in his neighborhood or place of business as an honest person, a
person who can be trusted. Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart.” Do you
want to be happy? All right, apply this Beatitude to your heart. Take it to
yourself.
The pure in heart are the
only ones who can know what it means to be supremely happy. Their hearts are
pure toward God and, as a result, are pure toward their fellowmen. They are
happy because, in possessing Him who is All and in All, they envy no man’s
worldly goods. They are happy because they envy not another man’s praise.
Because they are the enemy of no man, they regard no man as their enemy, the result is peace with God and the world.

Forever Linked
John 4:42---Now
we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and
know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
History, philosophy,
theology, and—in many centers of learning—even the sciences are being studied
to discover what they have to say about Jesus Christ. The records of the Early
Church are being reexamined for their testimony to Him. Archaeologists are digging
to discover new evidence.
Some say that Jesus Christ
is a myth, and He never existed in history. Others say that He was merely a
man, that there was nothing supernatural about His birth, and that His
resurrection was a hallucination. Others talk about a Christless Christianity.
Some say that no matter what one thinks about Christ, it does not affect
Christianity. They are wrong!
Christianity is forever
linked with the Person of Christ. Carlyle recognized this when he said, “Had
this doctrine of the deity of Christ been lost, Christianity would have
vanished like a dream.” The historian Lecky remarks, “Christianity is not a
system of morals, it is the worship of a Person.”

The Problem of Boredom
Hebrews 6:12---That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Do you know what nearly all the sociologists say today in their study of young people? The greatest problem facing young people today is not sex—it is boredom. Did you know that when they had the riot at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire they asked the young people what was wrong, why did they do it? Many of them said, “Just for the hell of it.” Bored—life has no purpose, life has no meaning. Give your life to Christ and you will never spend another bored minute.

True Freedom
1 Peter 1:8---Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Christ is the answer to sadness and discouragement. This is a world of thwarted hopes, broken dreams, and frustrated desires. G.K. Chesterton says, “Everywhere there is speed, noise, and confusion, but nowhere deep happiness and quiet hearts.”
A Hollywood columnist wrote about a famous movie star, “The bright, carefree radiance has gone from her pretty face.” Optimism and cheerfulness are products of knowing Christ. If the heart has been attuned to God through faith in Christ, then its overflow will be joyous optimism and good cheer.
You will never be free from discouragement and despondency until you have been tuned to God. Christ is the wellspring of happiness. He is the fountainhead of joy. Here is the Christian’s secret of joy.

The Real Source of Power
Matthew 6:33---But
seek ye first the kingdom of God.
A man or a
woman who has been focusing all attention on financial gains, or business, or
social prestige, or who has centered all his affection on some one person,
experiences a devastating sense of loss when denied the thing that has given
life its meaning. In these tragic moments, the individual recognizes how
terribly and completely alone he is.
In that
moment the Holy Spirit may cause the worldly bandages to fall from his eyes so
that he sees clearly for the first time. He recognizes that God is the only
source of real power, and the only enduring fountainhead of love and
companionship.

How to Handle Temptation
1 Corinthians 10:13---There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
It is Satan’s purpose to steal the seed of truth from your heart by sending distracting thoughts. It should encourage you to know that the devil considers you a good enough Christian to use as a target.
The difference between a Christian and a non-Christian is: though they both may have good and evil thoughts, Christ gives His followers strength to select the right rather than the wrong. You see a man going to a prayer meeting with a Bible under his arm. That man was undoubtedly tempted to stay at home, go bowling, or to some other activity. But, as these diverse thoughts came to his mind, he made the right selection and headed for the church.
Another man walks through the night to a bar. It no doubt occurred to him that he had best stay home with his family. But he yielded to the negative thought and gave in to his lower appetites.
It is not the temptations you have, but the decision you make about them that counts.

Be Honest with God
2
Corinthians 9:7---God loveth a cheerful giver.
The greatest blessing of
giving is not on the financial side of the ledger but on the spiritual side.
You receive a sense of being honest with God. You receive a consciousness that
you are in partnership with God—that you are doing something constructive—that
you are working with Him to reach the world for Jesus Christ. You are also
enabled to hold on to this world’s goods loosely because the eternal values are
always in view. How do you give? Is it liberally and cheerfully? Or is it
sparingly and grudgingly? If you have been giving God the leftovers of your
substance and your life, you have been missing the true joy and blessing of
Christian giving and living.

Do Not Compromise
Ephesians
3:16---That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be
strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Horace
Pitkin, the son of a wealthy merchant, was converted and went to China as a
missionary. He wrote to his friends in America, saying, “It will be but a short
time till we know definitely whether we can serve Him better above or here.”
Shortly afterward, a mob stormed the gate of the compound where Pitkin defended
the women and children. He was beheaded and his head was offered at the shrine
of a heathen god, while his body was thrown into a pit with the bodies of nine
Chinese Christians.
Sherwood
Eddy, writing about him, said, “Pitkin won more men by his death than he ever
could have won by his life.” Christ needs people today who are made of martyr
stuff! Dare to take a strong, uncompromising stand for Him.

The Greatest Work of Christ
Ephesians 6:12---For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Jesus worked all His life. But the greatest work that Jesus did was not in the carpenter’s shop, nor even at the marriage feast of Cana where He turned the water into wine. The greatest work that Jesus did was not when He made the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the dumb to speak, nor even the dead to rise. The greatest work that Jesus did was not when He taught as One having authority, or when He scathingly denounced the Pharisees for their hypocrisy. The greatest work that Jesus did was not in the great ethical program He presented to mankind—that program which has become the foundation for Western culture. What, then, was His greatest work? His greatest work was achieved in those three dark hours on Calvary. Christ’s greatest work was His dying for us.

Longings of the Soul
Matthew 5:6---Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst
after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
It has been
my privilege to know what it means to walk in the way of Christ. What a
thrilling, joyous experience it is to wake up every morning and know His
presence in the room! What a thrilling, joyous experience it is to know in the
evening when the sun is setting, the peace of God as you go to bed and to
sleep, and to sleep the sleep of only those who know Christ! What a joy it is
to walk in the eternal and permanent experience of Christ!
Do you
hunger for such a walk? Do you long for such joy, peace, contentment,
abandonment, and adventure in your own soul? If this is your hunger and desire,
then God will do exactly what He has promised to do: He will fill you. Every
promise God has ever made, He has kept—or will keep.

Putting Christ Above All Thing
In the daily grind of our life, we have bills to pay, job responsibilities, family matters, troubling news reports, and worrisome information about the world coming at us non-stop. We also have the sinister attractions of the world trying to pull us into the clutches of the darkness. When we are pushed and pulled against our will by the sin of the world, we must stop for just a moment and remember we are to put Christ above all things. Christ is greater than any material thing or immaterial idea. Christ is greater than any problem or issue. By using our free will, we can guide our thinking and arrange our priorities. When we use our free will to think, we can choose to put Christ above all things. Our problems care, and woes are minimized in the hands of our Savior. When we put all of our life in the hands of Christ, He is good to us and lets us know how much He loves us. Christ lets us know He loves us now and forever.

UNSELFISHNESS
I love the story, often told, about a man who was hiking in the mountains. He was taken by surprise in a sudden snowstorm and quickly lost his way. He knew he needed to find shelter fast, or he would freeze to death. Despite all of his efforts, his hands and feet quickly went numb. In his wandering, he literally tripped over another man who was almost frozen. The hiker had to make a decision: Should he help the man, or should he continue in hopes of saving himself?
In an instant, he made a decision and threw off his wet gloves. He knelt beside the man and began massaging his arms and legs. After the hiker had worked for a few minutes, the man began to respond and was soon able to get on his feet. Together with the two men, supporting each other found help. The hiker was later informed that by helping another, he had helped himself. His numbness vanished while he was massaging the stranger's arms and legs. His heightened activity had enhanced his circulation and brought warmth to his hands and feet.
It's my conviction that the only way to reach the mountain peaks of life is to forget about self and help other people reach greater heights.

Amazing Thought (Sin Problem)
It is an amazing thought to me that we want to blame everything that happens in our world today on either a machine or a gun or alcohol, or drugs or the President of the United States and the list could go on and on. I want to remind everyone that it takes a man or woman to operate the machine or gun, to drink alcohol or to take drugs. The problem in our world today is the same problem it has always been, a sin problem. The sin is not in the machine, gun, drink, or drug the sin is in the man or woman's heart.
PEOPLE STILL NEED THE LORD to overcome their sin problem!
Isa. 2:4--And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
One day soon this Scripture will be fulfilled, but until it is we will continue to see and have to deal with the Sin Problem. PRAY WITHOUT CEASING!

How Others Are Important
Your world revolves around other people. Even if you are a recluse or a hermit and you see no one, you are not likely self-sufficient. If you live in the modern world with all of our modern conveniences consider the following facts. Your electricity is generated by someone else. Your clothing is made by someone else. Your food is grown by someone else. Your car is built by someone else. And, this list could go on for a long time. In our modern world, where most of us live in cities, suburbs, and towns, we all depend on others for our survival. Other people should be important to you because other people keep you alive. In a world where you depend on other people, let other people know they are important to you. Not only are others important to you, but you are also just as important to others. We all want to be treated as if we are important. The truth is we are important. Perhaps if we saw the truth about how important we were to others we would live our lives in a more humble fashion. In the same way, if we saw the truth about how important others are to us, we would be a great deal more appreciative and more respectful of others and their place in our life. To be more successful in all you do, let others know how important they are to you.

How You Can Live Free From Fear
At one point during World War II, General George Patton met with a high-ranking allied official in Sicily. The man praised Patton for his courage and bravery. But Patton told him, “Sir, I am not a brave man… I have never been within the sound of a gunshot or in sight of battle in my whole life that I wasn’t so scared that I had sweat in the palms of my hands.”
Years later in his autobiography, General Patton revealed the secret to his bravery. He wrote, “I have learned early in my life never to take counsel of my fears.”
It’s astonishing just how much fear influences our daily decisions. Think about it. How many decisions do you make daily based on a negative event in the future that may or may not come to pass? And then, how many of those fears actually materialize?
So how can we diagnose fear when we see it? By looking at its source. Fear comes from either a lack of trust in God’s power or a belief that He doesn’t have your best interest at heart. When you fall into one of those mindsets, you’re operating in fear, not trust.

Caring For Each Other
We will always have persons in our life who need us to care about them. Certainly, there are those people in our life who pretend they do not want anyone to care about them. However, the truth is all people want others to care about them. All persons need the care, compassion, and understanding of others. One of the primary jobs in our life is to care for others. One of the primary rewards of our life is our satisfaction in knowing we gave our best to care for others. One of the primary keys to success in life is genuinely caring so much about others we are willing to put others first. So elementary is the idea of putting others first, many people do not pay enough attention to actively caring. So important is this idea every person should burn the importance of caring about others into their consciousness. If every person on earth began to care deeply for others regardless of their race, color, creed, origin, political belief, or any of the other kinds of barriers we use as an excuse for not caring, we would all live in a dramatically different world. Caring for others is not just the job of professional caregivers because all of us should be caregivers to everyone we know.

What We Need To Know From Others
One of our greatest mistakes in building and maintaining our relationships with others can come from our ignorance about them. In order to build and maintain healthy relationships, we need to know what others want and expect. We not only need to know what others want and expect from us, but we also need to know what others want and expect from the other people in their life. As simple as this truth might seem to be, the truth is vital in building and maintaining our relationships at home, work, school, and especially within our family. The opposite of knowing what others want and expect is ignorance. Ignorance in relationships is not bliss. Ignorance in relationships is chaos and disaster. A business ignorant about what the customer wants and expects will fail. A marriage partner ignorant about what the other partner wants and expects will succeed in the relationship only by chance. A child who does not know what the parent wants or expects will likely follow a path other than what the parent wants or expects.
